| SANIBEL, a sub-tropical barrier island, offers natural beauty and abundant wildlife along its twelve-mile length. Your visit begins with a relaxing drive over a three-mile causeway, where it is usual to spot dolphins while pelicans glide by your vehicle. Sandy beaches on the Gulf side are world-famous for the many varieties of shells, and freshwater wetlands dot the interior and mangroves grow along the bay side. Over 150 species of birds frequent the nature preserves, which make up 40% of the Island. You’ll find no high-rises, traffic lights or fast-food restaurants. What you will find is a community devoted to protecting the Island way of life, miles of bike paths, the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, all manner of sporting activities, a very active arts community, a wonderful library and unique shops and restaurants to fit all budgets. A short bridge at the north end of the Island leads to neighboring Captiva Island.
The Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce (www.sanibel-captiva.org) is a great source of information about our islands. The SUNDIAL complex, located on thirty-three acres with one-half mile of beachfront, consists of three separate and independent properties -- the Sundial East Condominium Association, the Sundial Beach & Golf Resort and the Sundial West Condominium Association. Sundial East has three heated pools. Golf is available at the nearby Beachview Golf & Tennis Club and the Dunes Golf & Tennis Club. The Sundial Beach Resort, which rents some of the residences at Sundial East and Sundial West, offers their guests the following amenities.
